When it comes to Las Vegas events, not many rival the Polaris RZR Mint 400 presented by General Tire. The racing is intense and the pre-race activities are amazing. Dale Dondel kicked things off when he extended his number one qualifying streak in the Roberts Racing #7 Trick Truck to 8 in a row! Dale received a 5K bonus from Method Race Wheels and his name on the prestigious top qualifier trophy!
Roberts Racing is anxious to get back in the fray at the Great American Race, the Polaris RZR Mint 400 presented by General Tire. The team had two out of three race cars sidelined at the Parker 425 due to shattered steel. Mechanical failures halted their vehicles but did nothing to break their resolve. Dakota Meyer brought the 1588 car home in 90th place after 17 hours of racing. The last official finisher, he kept pushing until the end. Meyer, a Medal of Honor recipient, is the perfect go-to guy when things get tough. Originally slated to co-drive, his performance in Parker has elevated him to driver of record in the #1588 at the Mint 400.
The team’s new website is a fully interactive destination for anyone seeking information on Roberts Racing, their many sponsors and the team’s most recent accomplishments. “The Roberts Racing site takes advantage of the latest technology,” says Brian Binkert, owner of Bink Designs. “It features a responsive design that works on cross platforms such as smart phones and iPads. We wanted the site to be easy to navigate and supply all the latest media from Roberts Racing such as dynamic photo galleries, videos and breaking news; an easy to use e-commerce system is in final development stages for the site where you can purchase the latest team apparel and accessories, stay tuned!”
Medal of Honor recipient Sgt. Dakota Meyer is headed to Las Vegas, NV to race the Mint 400 on March 14th with the Roberts Racing Team. Dakota will be piloting the Roberts Racing #1588 Class One Car. Dakota earned his Medal of Honor during the battle of Ganjgal in Afghanistan where under fire he saved the lives of his fellow soldiers and civilians in an extraordinary act of bravery. The Medal of Honor is the United States of America’s highest military honor, awarded for personal acts of valor above and beyond the call of duty. The medal is awarded by the President of the United States in the name of the U.S. Congress to U.S. military personnel only.
The Best in the Desert Parker 425 has always been one of the toughest races in off-road. This year’s event was somehow even tougher. After just one lap, harsh square edged holes developed all over the course. Some say recent precipitation loosened the soils that bind together the unique mix of dirt and rocks in the ground. The sandy sections had issues too, the ground was damp and heavy. The combination wreaked havoc on driveline parts; particularly torque convertors, drive shafts and transmissions.
